Java Tutorial - Java Script :

Installing jMeter

jMeter can be installed by unzipping the file into the appropriate directory. A shell script is provided for launching jMeter under Linux, and a batch file is used to launch jMeter under Windows NT/2000/XP. In spite of the fact that the Web site claims that jMeter works on Windows 98, the batch file provided does not work under Windows 98 and thus will likely not work under Windows 95 or Me. jMeter is shown in Figure 4.11.

When jMeter is launched, there are two panes. The left pane has a tree with a root node and two nodes below it labeled Test Plan and Workbench. This is called the test tree. The right pane shows details for the currently selected node. With the root node highlighted, the name for the project or root node can be edited. To build a test plan, we will add nodes to this tree. A node can be added by selecting a node and using the right mouse button or the Edit menu item and choosing Add.
