Selecting Your Tools
In this section, we’ll establish our matrix of needs and evaluate the JM providers to find the one that fits best. As with any endeavor, using the right tool for each situation is critical to your success. From a broad standpoint, we are interested in open source JMS providers that are at least JMS 1.0 compliant. That narrows down the field to several strong candidates. There are four products that stand out in this category: JBossMQ, ObjectWeb’s JORAM, Uber Group’s UberMQ, and Exolab’s OpenJMS. We will consider our messaging needs, look at the factors that differentiate these messaging providers, and finally select one to install and configure.
